    Latest

Yearly Review now highlights familiar faces

    Review

Review pages now surface the cast members who appeared most often in your watch history, with quick links into filtered history.

    • The new Familiar Faces section shows top movie and series cast for the selected review period.
    • Cast rows link directly to History filtered by that person and the same month, year, or all-time range.

Ready to Watch and cast cards feel more consistent

    Polish

Resume ordering and cast-card switching have been tightened so the page better matches what you are looking at.

    • Ready to Watch resume items now stay first and sort by real activity time, so recently paused movies and episodes are easier to pick back up.
    • Cast cards now switch their primary name along with the image: character view shows the character first, while person view shows the actor first.
    • The cast switch is now labeled as person view instead of actor view, matching the person pages it links to.

    Binge Queue plans unwatched shows

    Lists

Ready to Watch planning now lives in Binge Queue, a default list for new shows you want to hold until they are ready.

    • Binge Queue is show-only and only accepts shows with no episode history, so started shows stay in Progress instead.
    • Choose Season or Full series timing from the Add to List dialog, and see the selected mode directly on show pages and Binge Queue items.
    • Normal lists stay normal: Visibility and auto-remove are only shown when creating a new list, and binge timing only applies in Binge Queue.
    • When you start watching a Binge Queue show, it is removed from the queue and Ready to Watch falls back to normal Progress behavior.
    • Ready to Watch now sorts oldest first, so long-waiting available items appear before newer additions.

Unreleased tracking is now your choice

    Tracking

Tracking unreleased movies and unaired episodes is allowed by default again, with a new Settings toggle for stricter tracking.

    • A new Block unreleased tracking setting lets each user decide whether future-dated media should be blocked.
    • With the setting off, movies can be tracked before release and episodes can be tracked before air date.
    • With the setting on, movie tracking blocks unreleased movies and show or season tracking skips unaired episodes.
    • The same preference also applies when starting manual I'm Watching sessions.
  • May 21, 2026

Search controls fit more screen sizes

    Search

The Search page toolbar has been tuned so the search field, filters, and view controls behave better across phone, tablet, and desktop widths.

    • Search and filters now stay together in the sticky toolbar while switching between one-row and two-row layouts at smaller widths.
    • Compact labels are used only where space is tight, while narrow two-row layouts keep clearer labels like Genre, Unwatched, and Watched.
    • Filter dropdowns now open over the page instead of getting clipped inside the toolbar row.
  • May 21, 2026

Watch history is easier to review and clean up

    History

Show and season pages now link into filtered history from their existing stats, and History can bulk-delete selected episode ranges.

    • On show pages, the Plays stat opens that show’s filtered episode history without adding another detail-page section.
    • On season pages, the Progress block opens that season’s filtered history, including multiple plays of the same episode.
    • History now has episode selection for a filtered show, so ranges like episodes 1-5 can be selected and deleted together.
    • Bulk deletes only remove watch-history plays. Ratings, notes, lists, comments, and collection data stay untouched.
  • May 19, 2026

Future episodes are safer to track

    Tracking

Episode tracking now avoids unaired episodes, with clearer handling around watch-history deletes and search results.

    • Episodes that have not aired yet can no longer be marked watched from Track or I'm Watching.
    • Show and season tracking now skips unaired episodes instead of creating future watch-history entries.
    • Watch-history delete failures now report enough detail for troubleshooting instead of failing silently.
    • TMDB search results now keep the full result set instead of being cut short too early.
  • May 18, 2026

Media pages show more of the backdrop

    Details

Movie and show detail pages have cleaner glass navigation and longer backdrop fades.

    • The top navigation is more transparent so artwork-heavy pages feel less boxed in.
    • Media backdrops now keep the top of the artwork in frame, which helps character-focused backdrops avoid cropped heads.
    • Backdrop fades extend farther down the page, carrying the artwork through the streaming availability area before settling into the normal background.
    • Lower detail sections stay visible while their subtle scroll animation settles in.
  • May 18, 2026

    JustWatch powers streaming availability

    Discover

Streaming charts and title availability now use JustWatch data with clearer provider controls.

    • Discover Streaming Charts now show JustWatch-powered attribution on both the Discover home section and the full streaming charts page.
    • Movie and show detail pages now use JustWatch provider logos for streaming availability, with a country selector and Stream / Rent/Buy tabs when both offer types are available.
    • Show detail pages now place the JustWatch widget in the same hero-side spot as movie detail pages on desktop.
  • May 17, 2026

Layouts and controls behave better across screen sizes

    Polish

Several pages have been tightened up for smaller viewports, with cleaner control styling in dark mode.

    • Settings, Discover, Calendar, Progress, and collection views now handle narrow and tablet-sized screens more cleanly.
    • Toolbar controls, dropdowns, and action buttons now keep the same muted app styling instead of switching to overly bright hover states.
    • More compact layouts avoid unnecessary sideways scrolling while keeping actions readable and easy to tap.
  • May 15, 2026

Finales and premieres stand out on artwork

    Tracking

Special airing events now appear directly on posters and episode stills with clearer artwork ribbons.

    • Season finales, part finales, and premieres now use bold diagonal ribbons on episode stills, progress cards, Up Next cards, and anime part posters at the right episode boundary.
    • Ribbon colors now distinguish premieres, finales, and other airing events while keeping the text short on artwork.
    • Anime part posters only show Part Premiere or Part Finale at the relevant episode boundary, with longer date and episode details kept in the Airing section.
    • Calendar entries and normal show detail pages keep their compact inline event badges.
    • TMDB finale episode types now stay labeled as Season Finale unless TMDB explicitly marks the episode as a Series Finale.
  • May 15, 2026

    Settings fits more screen sizes

    Settings

The Settings page has been polished so controls stay easier to scan and use across phones, tablets, and desktop windows.

    • Settings sections and profile backdrop choices now switch to compact selectors on smaller screens.
    • Single actions stay compact, while paired actions such as Test and Save or Save and Remove share the row cleanly.
    • Settings modals and connected-service panels have been tightened to avoid sideways scrolling on narrow screens.
  • May 15, 2026

    Progress fits narrow screens better

    Tracking

The Progress page has been polished so filters, search, and sorting fit better on smaller screens.

    • Filters stay with search on narrow screens without sideways page scrolling.
    • Phone layouts use compact filter icons and cleaner sort controls.
  • May 14, 2026

Episode artwork and Plex imports are cleaner

    Tracking

Episode pages and next episode cards handle missing or low-quality stills better, and Plex imports are stricter about avoiding duplicate show records.

    • Next episode progress cards now use the show backdrop when an episode still is missing, so wide cards do not fall back to cramped poster art.
    • Episode detail image cards now use the show backdrop when TMDB has no episode still, and keep the wide episode-card framing.
    • Newly refreshed episode stills now store their image dimensions, which lets Watchlo avoid treating tiny TMDB artwork like full-quality backdrops.
    • Plex season folders with year suffixes now resolve to the canonical show instead of creating duplicate records with the wrong ids.
    • Existing duplicate Plex show records were cleaned up and their attached library, history, rating, note, comment, and progress data was moved to the canonical show.
  • May 14, 2026

Discover cards open and rate correctly

    Discover

Discover has a couple of small fixes for opening featured titles and reading streaming chart scores.

    • The Trending Now hero now has a direct View details action for opening the featured movie or show.
    • Streaming Charts on Discover now show TMDB ratings on the normal 10-point scale instead of tiny decimal values.
  • May 14, 2026

Now Playing fits small screens better

    Profiles

The profile Now Playing card has a simpler responsive layout so live playback details stay readable on phones and tablets.

    • Small screens now use a side poster rail instead of placing playback details under the poster.
    • The card keeps the title, episode title, percentage, and time left visible in the compact layout.
    • Tablet and desktop progress spacing now handles 100% without crowding the time display.
  • May 13, 2026

Manually scrobble what you are watching

    Tracking

Media pages now include an I'm Watching action for starting a manual Now Playing session when playback is happening outside a connected scrobbler.

    • Use I'm Watching on supported movie and episode pages to create the same profile Now Playing card used by Plex and Jellyfin.
    • Manual sessions run for the media's full runtime, then finish automatically and add the watched entry.
    • Your profile shows manual Now Playing directly under Stats, with pause, finish, share, and close controls.
  • May 13, 2026

Profile movie stats use the real library count

    Profiles

The Movies stat now separates watched activity from the number of movies actually in your library.

    • The main Movies number still shows watched movie entries.
    • The library sublabel now counts matched movie titles from Digital Library and Physical Library.
    • Digital and physical copies of the same matched movie are deduped so the library count stays title-based.
  • May 13, 2026

    Choose which profile rows show

    Profiles

Profiles now have user-controlled rows, so you can decide which sections appear and in what order.

    • Settings now includes Profile rows controls for stats, ready-to-watch, continue watching, recent history, upcoming releases, spotlight lists, and friends activity.
    • Rows can be turned on or off and moved up or down without affecting Now Playing.
    • Now Playing stays pinned separately so live playback remains easy to find.
  • May 13, 2026

    Track by release date

    Tracking

The tracking dialog now has a Release option for backfilling history with the media's original release or air date.

    • Movies can be tracked using their stored release date.
    • Shows and seasons use each episode's air date when tracking multiple entries.
    • The tracking choices are cleaner, with compact labels and a clearer unknown-date icon.
  • May 12, 2026

Movie and show details refresh sooner

    Metadata

Watchlo now catches up on background metadata updates faster, so titles, episodes, posters, dates, and collection details stay fresher.

    • New and recently updated movies and shows should appear with complete details sooner.
    • Large metadata backlogs now clear more steadily without waiting for manual searches or imports.
  • May 12, 2026

    Profile spotlight lists respect privacy

    Profiles

Spotlight lists on profiles now show only when the chosen list is visible to the person viewing it.

    • If someone spotlights a private list, other users no longer see a fallback Watchlist section.
    • Visible spotlight lists still open correctly from another user’s profile.
    • The profile list section now layers correctly above surrounding artwork and page effects.
  • May 10, 2026

Now Playing is cleaner on mobile

    Profiles

The live Now Playing card is easier to tap and share from small screens.

    • Mobile taps now open the media directly instead of first triggering the backdrop hover effect.
    • The card keeps the poster in a full poster frame with tighter mobile action buttons.
    • Shared Now Playing images show one progress bar instead of duplicating progress at the top.
  • May 10, 2026

    Light mode and theme controls

    Theme

Watchlo now supports Light, Dark, and System themes. Dark remains the default, and light mode is available when you want a brighter interface.

    • Switch between Light, Dark, and System from Settings or the account menu.
    • Artwork-heavy pages keep protective overlays so posters and backdrops stay readable in both themes.
    • Buttons, dialogs, drawers, search fields, menus, badges, and cards have been tuned for the new light and dark appearances.
  • May 10, 2026

Media pages and quick actions are easier to use

    Details

Movie, show, season, episode, anime, and collection pages have clearer visuals and more direct actions.

    • Detail pages have cleaner backdrops, stronger watched and collection states, and less visual weight around posters.
    • Rate and track dialogs now include a shortcut for adding notes.
    • Episode cards show Open in Plex on the poster again, and profile, review, rating, and friends activity states have clearer icon and hover treatments.
  • May 8, 2026

    What's New has a home

    Updates

Watchlo updates now live on a dedicated page that is easy to revisit without adding clutter to the main navigation.

    • The footer now links to What's New.
    • Updates are shown in a simple timeline.
    • New changes can be reviewed when you want, without interrupting normal tracking or browsing.
  • May 8, 2026

Digital Library replaces the old Plex-only library

    Library

The library area now covers more than Plex-synced items, with manual additions, source labels, export, deletion, and clearer browsing tools.

    • Add movies, shows, seasons, or episodes manually and choose where each digital copy came from.
    • Remove Digital Library items from media pages or from the library grid.
    • Filter by source, media type, resolution, HDR, audio, watched state, added date, and missing metadata.
  • May 8, 2026

Coverage tools for shows and movie collections

    Coverage

Digital Library now helps you see what is complete, what is missing, and where local files could not be matched.

    • Review show coverage by Missing, Collected, or All, with season-level details and unmatched file callouts.
    • Check movie collection coverage so you can see which collection titles are owned and which are still missing.
    • Matching is more reliable for split Plex seasons, alternate season groups, anime absolute numbering, excluded episodes, and stale season data.
  • May 7, 2026

Physical Library is cleaner on mobile and in light mode

    Physical

Physical collection screens have been polished for smaller screens and clearer editing.

    • Filter rows, filter pills, and mobile layouts were tightened for smaller screens.
    • Physical item details and import feedback are easier to read.
    • Special library rows are ignored unless tracked, reducing noisy collection rows.
  • May 7, 2026

More control over exports and cleanup

    Data

Account data tools now cover more of your Watchlo library data and make destructive actions clearer.

    • Export Digital Library data as JSON or CSV.
    • Export personal lists as JSON or CSV.
    • Delete Digital Library data separately from watch history, ratings, lists, notes, and physical library data.
  • May 7, 2026

Browse, social, and public profile surfaces are more consistent

    Browse

Discovery, search, comments, friends, and public profile areas have a more consistent look and clearer text.

    • Discover and search have better contrast, simpler hero cards, clearer quick explore labels, and cleaner similar-taste tiles.
    • Friend lists, friend states, social avatars, suggested people, and user headers are more consistent.
    • Comment formatting, spoiler styling, comment lists, and public media details are easier to read.
  • May 7, 2026

Lists, history, progress, and review are easier to scan

    Library

Core personal tracking areas have improved spacing, contrast, and controls.

    • History filters, history tables, mobile drawers, and grid delete controls have stronger contrast and spacing.
    • List pages, watchlist metadata, synced-list badges, and poster delete controls are clearer.
    • Progress, collection progress, review charts, yearly insights, world map areas, and back-to-top controls have been polished.
  • May 6, 2026

Settings and import screens are calmer

    Settings

Settings, imports, sync panels, and preference controls have a quieter layout and clearer status states.

    • Preference toggles, export controls, ready-to-watch settings, snoozed sections, country, and timezone settings are easier to follow.
    • Plex, Jellyfin, Simkl, Tautulli, Stremio, MDBList, and file import panels have more consistent forms and status messages.
    • Calendar, progress, watchlist, login, and account screens better match the rest of the app.
